International Youth Camps 2009 - Around the World in the Hedgerows
Through the acting out of classic stories and time-honored myths, accompanied with songs and dances, campers experience the joy of theatre through a collaborative process that culminates in a final performance. Each camp focuses on a unique story and allows the campers to explore different cultures, country's and periods. Register for the whole summer and receive a 20% discount. Register for 3 camps or more and receive a 10% discount.
June, July & August Camps (for ages 6-12)

Expand your Horizons! Live in other countries! Experience other cultures!
It's time to enroll in our summer camp sessions! Campers journey across the world and can immerse themselves in new cultures through tales from Western America, France, Germany, South America, Egypt and China. The days are filled with stories, songs and traditions from the regions. Children can travel to China to dress up like a dragon for a play they create, meet the creatures of the rain forest in South America or explore the Nile. Each camp features a special guest speaker.

Western American - The Great Frontier
Monday through Friday from 9-3 p.m. June 22-26 - $275
Campers will study Johnny Appleseed and the Western tribes as they perform the play United We Sing! that imparts the important values of acceptance and conservation that Appleseed practiced.

French Camp
Monday through Friday from 9-3 p.m. June 29-July 10 - $525
Carl Smith, a fellow at Hedgerow, fluent in French, will guide students in adapting the famous poem The Grasshopper and the Ant by Jean de la Fontaine into a play. They will also learn French nursery rhymes and songs. Guest speaker Luic Barinieu, owner of La Belle Epoque Cafe in Media, will also talk about growing up in France, his native country. Campers will also join the Hedgerow ensemble in storming the Bastille festivities in downtown Media on July 11.

South American Camp
Monday through Friday from 9-3 p.m. July 27-August 7 - $525
Camp leader Miriam Rodriguez, originally from Venezuela, came to the United States eight years ago and spent her first few years teaching Spanish. In addition to theater arts, campers will learn about the geography, music, food, and costumes of each South American country.

Egyptian Camp
Monday through Friday from 9-3 p.m. August 10-21 - $525
Inspired by Ancient Egypt, campers will create an original play for final performance!

Chinese Camp
Monday through Friday from 9-3 p.m. August 24-28 - $275
Campers will learn about Chinese culture and traditions while creating a play for final performance!

Festival Week
Monday through Friday from 9-3 p.m. August 31-Sept. 4 - $275
Celebrate America's cultures, culminating in a final performance for family and friends and a Special Open House show Sept. 2

*These camps for ages 6-12 feature a different theme and culminate in a Final Performance for Family and Friends on the last day of camp at 2 p.m. These skill-building camps sharpen the imagination by acting out stories and myths, as well as singing songs without the pressure of learning from a script.
Tuition: 2 week youth camps - $525 per session;
1 week youth camps - $275 per session.

Summer Shakespeare Camp (for all ages)
Now in its 18th year, Hedgerow Theatre's Shakespeare Summer Camp is a unique opportunity for actors to work side by side with veteran actors and the Hedgerow ensemble. For four weeks, actors work on Shakespeare for performances at Hedgerow Theatre. This year's camp will focus on A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Auditions will be held on the first day of camp for casting. Be prepared with a monologue or poem.
July 6-31, 2009 Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Jared Reed, artistic director of Curio Theatre and Julliard graduate, will help teens handle Shakespearian language and meaning and direct the students in a performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream for final performance at Hedgerow Studio Outdoor Stage, 146 W. Rose Valley Road, on July 31, time to be announced.
Tuition: $500.00 per student for four weeks.

Teen Movie Camp 1 & 2 (ages 13-18)
Teachers: Hedgerow ensemble
Session 1: June 22-July 3, 2009 Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-1 p.m. - $275
Session 2: August 24-September 3, 2009 Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-1 p.m. - $300
Learn how to make a movie and be part of the film cast and crew. Students receive a copy of the DVD! Students in Session 2 will join the Hedgerow ensemble in its Summer Festival 2009!
Tuition: Session 1: $275 per student. Session 2: $300

Teen OUR TOWN (ages 13-18)
Teachers: Hedgerow ensemble
August 3-21, 2009 Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-1 p.m. - $400
Study Thorton Wilder's classic play for final performance! Veteran Hedgerow actress and teacher Susan Wefel will guide this camp.

Camp for Teens: Shakespeare and Teen Camps are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
