From misers and ghosts, to family and parties A Christmas Carol speaks to every part of the tradition we love. From November 24 until Christmas Eve we share the story that has made the holidays for Delco for 24 years. Meet Julie Gilligan from Penncrest High School as we welcome her to the Christmas Carol family.
Why did you decide to do A Christmas Carol?
I wanted to do it this year because I love being at Hedgerow, and doing shows here. I specifically love this story, and my Grandpop really loves the story so it’s a tradition to watch the movie together. Right after Hairspray Jr., he asked me if I wanted to see A Christmas Carol here, and I thought it would be a good gift for him to come see me in the story, and experience it in a new way, after all he has done for me.
What is your favorite part of the story?
My favorite parts of the story are the Cratchit scenes because they don’t have much, but they’re thankful for everything that they do have, and they are always high spirited when they are with each other as a family. I also love the ending where Scrooge discovers the true meaning of Christmas.
What is your favorite part of the Holidays?
My favorite parts about Christmas are being with family that you don’t always get to see on a regular basis. It’s also a good time to really be fortunate about what you have, and to help others who maybe aren’t as fortunate as you, to help them experience the joy that everyone should feel during the holiday season. Lastly, I love Christmas carols, and hearing them on the radio.
